Tennis Star Sania Mirza is unsure about her next game and retirement plans: Indian Tennis Star, Sania Mirza’s retirement plans were affected after her Tendon injury. The injury forced her to step out of the US Open last month. The injury is taking more than expected to recover as she is still in pain.

In a conversation, she says ” Honestly, injury recovery is slower than I would have liked. It is almost more than a month. Apparently, I did not realize that I have torn my Tandon and it is detached from the bone a little bit. It is very painful even today after 4 and a half weeks and I thought I can start hitting the balls by now. I am unable to pick a water bottle without pain.
Furthermore, she says ” So it does look like that it is going to take a few more weeks. I will do a few more tests and see how it is. That is why I don’t know about my retirement plans or anything as such. I was hoping that i’ll be able to play the US open. Still being near 20 in the world rankings. I thought it would be nice to play a Grand Slam and finish there. But I don’t know exactly when I will be better and when I can play or what I’ll play. ”
Sania Talks about the future of tennis
” Leander, Rohan, Mahesh, and I have set the bar of playing and winning Grand Slams for so many years. We all have stopped or almost stopping. So now it is time to pass the Baton to other people and it is a league like this that will help. That is my only motive and Association with it because, for me, it is important that tennis does not go backward and go forward.”
” Unfortunately whenever a big star retires, sport takes a backseat and that is something we don’t want. Because we have worked very hard to bring tennis where it is.”
“So when the League came up to us and said what we are trying to achieve, it was a no-brainer to say yes. To be a part of that is going to make tennis better and produce more players and champions.”
