Bleacher Report’s approach to the seemingly impossible task of ranking the world’s hardest sports was another extremely comprehensive and quantitative one. They selected six distinct characteristics of each sport—speed, endurance, strength, agility, skill level, and physicality—and gave each of these characteristics a score out of 10. They then used these final “toughness ratings” to rank the combined scores out of 60. Hardest sports in the world top 10 | Toughest Sports.

The sport is harder if its toughness rating is higher. The following are their rankings of the world’s hardest sports, ranked from hardest to easiest, based on their ratings of the attributes for each sport: Boxing, rugby, ice hockey, American football, hurling, gymnastics, basketball, and Gaelic football are all forms of water polo.

Boxing is widely acknowledged as a crazy-hard sport, and ESPN has named it the hardest sport in the world. Other prominent rankings regularly place it in the top 10 lists of the hardest sports in the world.

It calls for a great deal of skill, agility, speed, cardiovascular fitness, and physical fitness.

    2. Ice Hockey

Hockey on ice is intense. It requires a lot of speed, strength, and agility, as well as the physicality necessary to defend against opponents and to race around the ice for an hour.

A lot of tackling, tasselling, chasing, weaving, changing of course, and strategy are involved.

    3. Aussie Rules

Sam Kerr scored a perfect hat-trick to become Chelsea’s second highest all-time scorer. Hit three against Liverpool to reach the fifth round of the FA Cup. Make that 77 goals to her name in Blue. From Western Australia to West London, this Aussie makes her own rules. pic.twitter.com/I7deLVkLXD

Aussie Rules, also known as “footy,” is a difficult sport that is played on a large oval field and has some similarities to American football, even though it is played almost exclusively in Australia’s tiny corner of the world.

It involves a lot of tackling and requires a lot of skill, such as bouncing the ball while running and only passing it by kicking or punching it.

    4. Water Polo

Water polo is a tough sport to play well, but because it isn’t as popular as some of the harder sports, people often forget about it. You must run through the water without becoming submerged while enduring a lot of forceful kicking and grabbing.

Water polo necessitates a wide range of athletic physical attributes, including strength, speed, endurance, and power. Water polo requires not only a high level of physical fitness but also a fair amount of skill.

    5. American Football

    — American Football (@americfootball) August 8, 2023

Most American football players and fans will say that the sport is the hardest in the world. Even though we don’t think it’s the hardest sport, it is definitely tough. There is a lot of physicality and a lot of strength required. However, the game’s lack of endurance is due to its frequent starts and stops, which is what lowers its score a few pegs.

    6. Hurling

In Ireland, hurling is a popular amateur sport that uses baseball-sized sticks and is similar to Gaelic football.

The game is fast, so you need to be quick, and you need skill to catch and hit the ball; Additionally, physical stamina and endurance are required.

    7. Rugby

Full-contact sports like rugby are not for the faint of heart.

It basically entails playing American football without pads, but rugby players wrestle for the ball instead of stopping the game when a tackle occurs. You can’t pass the ball forward, so you have to go through the defense.

You need to be fast, strong, and able to dodge a lot of tackles, hits, and dodges.

Even though it ranks lower in terms of physicality and speed, the Ironman triathlon event still entails a great deal of endurance.

A 26.2-mile run, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 2.4-mile swim make up the full Ironman triathlon.

    9. Mixed Martial Arts

    — Arkansas Gymnastics 🐗 (@RazorbackGym) January 28, 2023

Despite the fact that it is frequently omitted from lists of the world’s hardest sports, gymnastics basically calls for strength, agility, power, flexibility, speed, and skill.

Gymnastics is one of the most challenging sports in general because it is both highly technical and physically demanding, whether you’re looking at men’s events like the rings, parallel bars, or pommel horse, or women’s events like the vault.
