    In the Indian Premier League, 2023 auction that was held in Kochi, England all-rounder Sam Curran became the most expensive buy in the history of the IPL with a contract worth a massive Rs 18.5 crore. Mayank Agarwal, at Rs 8.25 crore, was the most expensive Indian buy while Shivam Mavi, at Rs 6 crore, was the most expensive uncapped Indian buy.     England all-rounder Sam Curran became the highest-paid player in IPL after Punjab Kings bought him for a whopping Rs. 18.50 crores at the IPL 2023 mini-auction. For long, Royal Challengers Bangalore star Virat Kohli was the highest-paid player in IPL following his years of consistent exploits in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

    Virat Kohli, Royal Challengers Bangalore – INR 17 crore

    The former Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper was being paid a whopping INR 17 crore starting from 2018 until 2021, which made him the first player to touch this mark. This figure changed in 2022, and dropped to INR 15 crore.

    KL Rahul, Lucknow Super Giants – INR 17 crore

    Currently the costliest player in the Indian Premier League, KL Rahul was drafted into the Lucknow Super Giants setup for a whopping INR 17 crore. Rahul had scored 590+ runs in the four seasons he spent with Punjab Kings before this, which made him a very hot prospect before heading into the mega auction.

    Chris Morris, Rajasthan Royals – INR 16.25 crore

    Chris Morris is the most expensive auction purchase in the history of IPL. In the 2021 mini auction, Rajasthan Royals decided to pay a whopping INR 16.25 crore for the South African all rounder, making him one of the highest paid players in cricket history.

    Yuvraj Singh, Delhi Daredevils – INR 16 crore

    Before Morris, Yuvraj Singh was the most expensive auction purchase of this tournament. In 2015, Delhi Daredevils went all-out for the player’s services and got him for a record-breaking INR 16 crore.

    Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians – INR 16 crore

    Having led Mumbai Indians to two IPL titles in the last three editions before 2022, it was evident that Rohit Sharma was about to get a massive pay hike, which he richly deserved. In the 2022 edition, Mumbai Indians hiked his salary from INR 15 crore to INR 16 crore.

    Rishabh Pant, Delhi Capitals – INR 16 crore

    Having seen him lead the side last season, Delhi Capitals decided to invest a huge amount of money on Rishabh Pant, expecting him to lead them to glory in future. He was retained for a stellar INR 16 crore for the 2022 edition and was asked to captain the side.

    Ravindra Jadeja, Chennai Super Kings – INR 16 crore

    Considered as one of the finest all-rounders in the world, Jadeja became Chennai Super Kings’ most expensive player for the 2022 edition. The southpaw was retained by the franchise for INR 16 crore and he also named captain a few days before the tournament began.

    Pat Cummins, Kolkata Knight Riders – INR 15.5 crore

    Pat Cummins, who has found tremendous success in Test cricket for Australia, attained big bucks for the 2020 edition from Kolkata Knight Riders. The Australian all rounder was picked up for a whopping INR 15.5 crore, and spent two seasons with them for that price.

    Ishan Kishan, Mumbai Indians – INR 15.25 crore

    Heading into the 2022 mega auction, it was evident that Ishan Kishan will be one of the costliest purchases. He did not disappoint, and after a tug-of-war between multiple franchises, the Jharkhand opener went for INR 15.25 crore, with Mumbai winning the bid.

    Rashid Khan, Gujarat Titans – INR 15 crore

    After parting ways with the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rashid Khan was drafted into the Gujarat Titans for the 2022 edition. The Afghanistan leg spinner played a crucial role in helping them win the title under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, picking up 19 wickets and featured in all the 16 games.
