Tops 5 records in Tennis History that are not likely to be broken anytime soon

Tops 5 records in Tennis History that are not likely to be broken anytime soon: In the world of tennis, the players are constantly pushing their envelopes to the extreme and making a place for themselves to be considered the best of the best. And in the meanwhile, these players set a few benchmarks which can be almost impossible for the next generation to ponder upon.

The following list is a compilation of major title records that matter in the history of tennis. These are the biggest final streaks and championships that have largely defined the players.

7 Wimbledon titles in 8 years – Pete Sampras

Pete Sampras had held his position as one of the greatest tennis players on grass. He certainly was the most dominant player in Wimbledon from the year 1993 to 2000, a period in which he went on to win seven championships in eight years. No one can fathom imagining any player to best this feat.

Combination of 6 French Open and 5 Wimbledon titles – Bjorn Borg

The king of European majors who stood undefeated is Bjorn Borg. He had 11 titles between London and Paris by the time he turned 25. If the vast differences in the situation and the court type are observed, it will be fit to say that it is extremely unlikely that someone will come along to win six French Open and five Wimbledon titles.

Borg made a monopoly of the channel slam – He won the French Open and the Wimbledon in the same year. And the matter of pride is he accomplished this in straight years between 1978-80.

Winner of the same Grand Slam 12 times: Rafael Nadal

Rafael Nadal is the undisputed and undefeated king of clay, who won the French Open title on twelve separate occasions.

Nadal began to have this streak just as he was turning 19. He attained nine French Open titles under his wings in the next ten years by 2014. And then he went on to add a hat-trick of titles between 2017-19.

    Martina Navratilova’s Longest winning streak

One player who managed to perfectly epitomize the dominance in her field was Martina Navratilova.

Her record-winning spree began on the 20th of February 1984 at the US Indoor Championships held in New Jersey. In the course of 10 months, up to the day of the 7th of December 1984, Navratilova won 74 consecutive matches in the best single-season, a record made by no other player in the history of the tennis.

During this period, she went on to win 13 titles, which included three at Grand Slam tournaments namely, Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and US Open.

Steffi Graf – Calendar-year Golden Slam

The legendary Steffi Graf is a personality who holds a plethora of records in the game. She is one of the greatest players to ever take the court. She is the 22-time Grand Slam singles champion and was ranked World No. 1 for a record 377 weeks – a number that went down in the pages of tennis history.

Graf won all four Grand Slam titles and the Olympic singles gold, a feat that is called the career Golden Slam. But what makes the German’s achievement stand out is that she is the only player in the history of tennis to win all five titles in the same year.
