At the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday, October 15, the India Women’s National Cricket Team defeated Chamari Athapaththu’s Sri Lanka Women’s National Cricket Team by 8 wickets with 69 balls remaining to claim the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2022. The eighth Women’s Asia Cup competition, the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2022, was held in Sylhet, Bangladesh, from October 1 to October 15.

After the group stage games, India and Pakistan placed first and second, respectively, on the points standings. The team captained by Harmanpreet Kaur defeated the Thailand Women’s National Cricket Team by 74 runs to go to the multi-nation tournament’s finale. The Sri Lanka Women’s National Cricket Team, on the other side, defeated the Pakistan Women’s National Cricket Team by one run to go to the championship game.

    India played well

The Sri Lanka Women’s National Cricket Team chose to bat first after winning the toss in the game. They were only allowed to score 65/9, which was a terrible outcome for the side.

Renuka Singh, an Indian bowler, with outstanding bowling statistics of 3-1-5-3. Additionally, Sneh Rana and Rajeshwari Gayakwad bowled superbly and both claimed two wickets.

Star starter Smriti Mandhana gave her team a great star while chasing the average aim. Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues, two fast wickets for India, fell in the fourth and fifth overs, respectively.

Smriti Mandhana, on the other hand, continued to bat brilliantly and scored 51* runs off 25 balls, including 6 fours and 3 sixes. The most experienced T20I player in women’s cricket and captain Harmanpreet Kaur both contributed with respectable 11 runs to assist India secure a convincing victory.

The India Women’s National Cricket Team won their seventh Asia Cup championship in eight editions with the victory against Sri Lanka, continuing their domination of the Asian tournament.

The lone hiccup in an otherwise faultless campaign was a loss to Pakistan, which was brought on by some odd planning on the part of manager Ramesh Powar and Harmanpreet.

At least in this season, India won’t have the opportunity to make amends with Pakistan after Sri Lanka eliminated them in the semifinals.

The summit matchup, at least on paper, is a total mismatch because just one Sri Lankan hitter (Oshadi Ranasinghe) has been able to reach a strike rate of 100 or above.

Only two hitters have scored at least 100 runs in several games: Harshitha Madavi (201 runs) and Nilakshi de Silva (124 runs).

Even Chamari Athapaththu, one of their most well-known female cricketers, has only scored 96 runs at a strike rate that is below average (85 plus). Only left-arm spinner Inoka Ranaweera (12 wickets) has displayed the necessary bowling skills.
