On Wednesday, July 19, at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, India defeated Bangladesh ruthlessly by 108 runs thanks in large part to Jemimah Rodrigues’ Player-of-the-Match performance. With this victory, they leveled the three-match series at one match each.

Nigar Sultana, the captain of Bangladesh, chose to bowl first after winning the toss. In the first 20 overs, Smriti Mandhana (36) batted carefully and held the innings together. In the top opening player, Priya Punia (7) and Yastika Bhatia (15) didn’t really help her out.

In the middle order for her team, Harmanpreet Kaur (52 in 88 balls) delivered a responsible knock. Jemimah Rodrigues, though, stole the stage with a forceful 86 (78). On a turning wicket, her noteworthy effort assisted India in reaching 228/8 in 50 overs. The hosts’ bowling unit saw two wickets each from Sultana Khatun and Nahida Akter.

In response, Bangladesh reached 106/3 in 28.5 overs after a respectable start. A spectacular collapse in Bangladesh’s batting order was caused by Jemimah Rodrigues (4/3) and Devika Vaidya (3/30), who bowled them out for 120 in 35.1 overs.

Jemimah Rodrigues’ match-winning all-around effort in the comeback victory over Bangladesh thrilled cricket fans.

Following India’s victory, here were some of the finest Twitter reactions:

🇮🇳🔥A SWEET WIN! The girls delivered an incredible performance, led by Jemimah's outstanding 86 runs and 4 wickets, alongside Devika's remarkable 3-wicket haul, propelling us to a resounding victory over Bangladesh.

After India defeated Bangladesh, Harmanpreet Kaur said, “We wanted to bat first”

In the game that required to be won in order to score a high total, India’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur announced at the post-match presentation that they intended to bat first. She also gave an account of the conversations they were having about their contest strategies in the dressing room.

“We aimed to bat first and put up a respectable total. In the locker room, we had a conversation about having one batter bat all the way through. When Jemi entered the game. We continued rotating the strike and played each delivery based on the merit of the ball.”

We had been batting on level surfaces for a while before encountering a difficult track with a spin that we couldn’t quite adjust to quickly. We discussed the strategies to use and adjustments to make on these surfaces. In two days, the series finale will be a terrific one.

On Saturday at the same location, the two teams will square off in the series finale.
