The Australian all-rounder Cameron Green recently confirmed that he has signed up for the first time for the IPL auction. Here are three teams that should look to sign him at the 2023 auction.

The top-order big-hitter, who is 23 years old, has the highest T20I fifty for Australia. Additionally, he can consistently bowl at a speed of at least 140 kph.

Green will likely compete with Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, and Jason Holder for the highest bid this year, as all-rounders frequently fetch substantial sums at IPL auctions. His age is what sets him apart. David Warner pointed out that the youngster will be seen by teams as a long-term investment, but with the caveat that he will need to manage his workload.

All things considered, the following is a list of three teams that could and should target him.

    Lucknow Super Giants

With the departure of Jason Holder, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) now lack a significant all-rounder. While Holder performed admirably with the ball, he was unable to have an impact on the batting line.

He was either the final batter or the No.4, as neither role was suitable for him. In fact, it made the LSG batting order too haphazard and unreliable in crucial situations.

Green doesn’t have the ability to start in front of KL Rahul or Quinton de Kock, but he has everything to be the No.3.Evin Lewis, who started out as LSG’s one-down player last season, has also been let go. Deepak Hooda performed admirably at that position, and he can do the same at No.4, and Krunal Pandya came after him at five.

This will provide them with up to nine different bowling options and aggressive batsmen until Mohsin Khan comes in at No.8.LSG can always try the Australian finisher, a role he has done well in ODIs and Tests but hasn’t been able to replicate in T20s if Rahul wants Marcus Stoinis or Hooda to bat in the top order in some games.

    SunRisers Hyderabad

SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) must start from scratch with a massive remaining purse of 42.25 crores.
They have let go of their anchor-opener Kane Williamson, finisher Nicholas Pooran, and pace all-rounder Romario Shepherd. They also let go of their openers.

Because he can play each of these roles independently and together, Green will bring a great deal of balance to the team.

Before the T20 World Cup, he scored 61 (30), five (four), and 52 (21) as an opener against India. His series strike rate of 214.55 would be a major draw for SRH, whose powerplay strike rate of 108.52 was the lowest in IPL 2022.

In T20Is, the best batting order is Green, Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, and Glenn Phillips. With a quality spinner and an Indian hard-hitter, SRH has a team that can compete for the trophy.

    Punjab Kings

Like SRH, Punjab Kings (PBKS) have let go of Mayank Agarwal, their top-order anchor, and Odean Smith, their finisher, and now have room for a hard-hitter to play at No.3.

Green might be the ideal candidate to pursue Jonny Bairstow and Shikhar Dhawan and form a formidable partnership with Liam Livingstone at No.4.Last season, Bhanuka Rajapaksa did a good job filling the role, but during the T20 World Cup, he looked nothing like that. Green, on the other hand, also provides better harmony.

He and Livingstone are able to work together seamlessly as the fifth bowling option, allowing PBKS to play an additional batter whenever necessary. Green’s signing as well as that additional batter shouldn’t be a problem given their $32.2 million budget.
