3 times Ravindra Jadeja ran out a well-established pair with Sarfaraz Khan

On the first day of the third Test against England in Rajkot on Thursday, February 15. Team India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scored a stunning century.

After winning the toss, India batted first and suffered a dismal start, losing three wickets for 33 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal (10), Shubman Gill (0), and Rajat Patidar (5) all died cheaply.

He is promoted to No. 5 on his home ground, ahead of debutant Sarfaraz Khan.

The pair batted through the whole second session of Day 1 to put India in a strong position.

    1. Hardik Pandya

Jadeja’s most well-known run-out was against Pakistan in the 2017 Champions Trophy final at The Oval. Mohammad Amir blasted through India’s top order, leaving them in terrible trouble at 72/6 as they attempted to chase 339.

Hardik Pandya single-handedly boosted Team India’s modest chances, scoring a ferocious half-century.

He scored four fours and six sixes and was the dominant partner in Jadeja’s 80-run seventh-wicket partnership.

    2. Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane led India in the absence of Virat Kohli. Scoring a stunning century against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Boxing Day 2020-21.

India leveled the series 1-1 thanks to his tenacious innings. And some excellent bowling efforts after being knocked out for an abysmal 36 in Adelaide.

Rahane hit 112 off 223 balls as India registered 326 in their first innings, responding to Australia’s 195.

    3. Sarfaraz Khan

In the upcoming India-England Rajkot Test, Jadeja terminated Sarfaraz’s magnificent debut innings with another terrible decision.

The latter had nine fours and a six in his innings and appeared to be on track for many more.

However, a misunderstanding between Sarfaraz and Jadeja while the latter was on 99 resulted in the former losing his wicket.

Sarfaraz answered, wanting to assist his senior partner reach three figures. He is on the other hand, sent back, and Sarfaraz was run out by Mark Wood’s stunning direct hit.

Other recent occurrences of Ravindra Jadeja being engaged in run outs

He was on the other end when Kohli was dismissed for 121 in the second Test. Against the West Indies in Port of Spain in July 2023.

Kohli got an inside edge on a Jomel Warrican delivery in India’s first innings’ 99th over.

He attempted to pinch a tight single, but there was a little hesitation before he started off. Which cost him as Alzarri Joseph delivered a direct hit from square leg.

Even in India’s first innings of the upcoming Test series against England in Hyderabad. He is at the crease when Ravichandran Ashwin was run out for 1.

Ashwin blasted a ball from Joe Root to the right of cover and took off. Jadeja originally reacted but then backed away.

Ashwin continued to sprint as he watched the ball. Both hitters ended up at the same end. But Jadeja made it out by getting his bat into the crease first.
