Sanchez’s contract with the Serie A team, which was set to expire next summer, has reportedly been resolved, according to Sky in Italy, and he is now free to sign with another team.

After a productive season-long loan stint the year before, the 33-year-old moved permanently to Inter from Manchester United in 2020 on a free transfer.

Antonio Conte and Simone Inzaghi mostly used him as a substitute after he was unable to establish himself as a starter.

In January, the Chilean defeated Riv with a last-second extra-time goal to give Inter the Italian Super Cup. But Romelu Lukaku’s entrance back into the team made it possible for Sanchez to be left off of Inzaghi’s team.

Potential newcomers like Paulo Dybala, who finally joined Roma, ran into trouble because of Sanchez’s huge pay.

Sánchez played with Cobreloa when he first joined a professional club. At the age of 18, he signed with Udinese, and while on loan at Colo-Colo and River Plate, he won back-to-back league championships. Sánchez became the most expensive Chilean player in history when he moved for Barcelona in 2011 for a transfer fee of €37.5 million, setting a record for association football transfers. There, Sánchez won six titles, including the Copa del Rey and the La Liga championship. Then, in 2014, he moved to Arsenal for a fee of £31.7 million (€35 million), winning two FA Cups, the 2015 PFA Fans’ Player of the Year, and selection to the 2015 PFA Team of the Year.
