Alonso set for maiden Aston Martin F1 test in Abu Dhabi

Two vehicles from each group will be highlighted in the test, which will be held the Tuesday after the final race of the period. The authoritative 2023 Pirelli tyres will be used by race drivers in one car, and newcomers to the track will operate the other.

With the expectation that they had the ability to organise a delivery from their previous groups, drivers who are switching groups for the upcoming year typically gain their most memorable engagement in their new outfits during the Abu Dhabi running. They frequently arrive wearing neutral or unbranded overalls as part of the game strategy.

Nyck de Vries will be the driver for AlphaTauri, according to manager Franz Tost, who made the announcement in Mexico on Friday. Pierre Gasly will make his racing debut for High as part of a larger deal that would liberate him from the Red Bull camp in 2023.

In any event, Elevated has not yet given Oscar Piastri the keys to the McLaren garage. Manager of the Enstone group in Mexico, Otmar Szafnauer: “At this moment, I believe that’s what our respectable groups are discussing. Additionally, I have no idea. Ask me in Brazil; there will be more in a week.”

With no quick assistance from Aston Martin, it is believed that Alonso had the option of obtaining authorisation on his own for his delivery from High.

When asked by if he had any cards in his possession that helped him get that delivery, Alonso smiled and responded, “I’m always in charge of my own fate!”

Alonso and his brand-new teammate Spear Walk will each drive for half of a day of tyre testing in Abu Dhabi.

Before the new car is delivered and the lone authority test meeting is held in Bahrain seven days before the major race, the Spaniard will really want to put more time on the AMR22 in Pirelli tyre testing in February.

In the meanwhile, Zak O’Sullivan recently used a similar car for his Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Youthful Driver of the Year Grant run. Felipe Drugovich is scheduled to drive last year’s Aston Martin AMR21 on the whole Silverstone circuit on Tuesday.

It will be a critical day for the Brazilian as well, as he must complete 300 kilometres in order to qualify for participation in FP1 at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. This is comparable to the first key step in Drugovich’s improvement programme with the team.

The group should select a replacement to conduct the FP1 meeting in the unlikely event that he fails to do so, with De Vries the unquestionable up-and-comer. Drugovich can still participate in the test for young drivers after the race at the conclusion of the week.
