Sandeep Lamichhane, a rape suspect currently out on bail, has reportedly been dropped from the Nepali squad for the upcoming Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series. Papua New Guinea (PNG) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are also featured in the series.
ESPNCricinfo reports that the cricketer was unable to travel internationally due to the conditions of his bail. The first match between Nepal and PNG will be played in Dubai on Monday, February 27. They are sixth out of seven teams in the Cricket World Cup League 2 standings at the moment. Lamichanne has secured 55 wickets in the competition thus far.

For those who are not familiar, Sandeep Lamichhane was charged with raping a child last year. In September of last year, a rape allegation resulted in an arrest. Following his participation in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), he landed in Kathmandu in October and was taken into custody by the police.
The Patan High Court granted the 22-year-old bail on January 13 (the 99th day), with the condition that he cannot leave the country until the case is resolved.
A petition was filed in the Supreme Court to challenge the bail.
According to ANI, a criminal investigation is underway against him in accordance with Section 219 of the Criminal Code 2074. He will spend between 10 and 12 years in prison if the crime stands against him.
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) suspended the spinner last year, but on February 1, the suspension was lifted.
In a recent Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series involving Scotland and Namibia, Lamichhane took 13 wickets in four matches. Protests followed his four wickets in the championship match. The bowler was refused a handshake by the Scotland players.
