Basketball at Virginia rises to No. 3 in the AP Top 25 Poll

The program’s highest ranking since the end of the 2018–19 season is number 3. The Virginia men’s basketball team is ranked in the top three of the AP Top 25 Poll for the first time since the end of the 2018–19 season.

While a few of the top five teams lost this week, UVA won its only game, propelling the Cavaliers up two spots to No.3 in the most recent AP Top 25 list.


Now, Houston holds the No. Texas is the nation’s No. 1 team for the first time since 1983.2.
North Carolina fell 17 spots from No.1 to No.18 after losing to Alabama and Iowa State simultaneously this past weekend. Who was the No in Kansas? 3 in the previous survey, and dropped to No.9 after Tennessee’s defeat.


Arizona rose to No. 1 by ten spots.4 and Purdue rose to No. 1 by a staggering 19 spots.5 following their Sunday defeat of Duke. From No. 1, the Blue Devils lost.8 to No.17 after the defeat.


When Virginia hosts Houston on Saturday, December 17 at 2 p.m. at John Paul Jones Arena, there will be a top-three matchup, assuming neither team loses in the coming weeks.
