At the AFF Championship, Cambodia will play Brunei on Thursday (December 29) at the Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh in an effort to rebound from their previous defeat. The Angkor Warriors suffered a 2-1 defeat to Indonesia on Friday’s second matchday, after beginning their campaign with a 3-2 loss to the Philippines.
In the 16th minute, Sareth Krya stopped Egy Vikri’s early goal for the Garuda Team. In the 35th minute, Witan Sulaeman extended their lead, ending Cambodia’s comeback attempt. The loss has consigned the side to fourth place in Gathering A with three focuses after two games and an objective distinction of nothing.
In contrast, Brunei has had a much worse campaign, going down 5-1 to the Philippines and losing 5-0 to Thailand in their first match. The Hornets are last in Group A, have no points, and have a goal difference of -9. It looks like they will have to leave the tournament early again.

Given Brunei’s performance, Cambodia will be optimistic about their chances of rebounding from their most recent defeat. As a matter of fact, the Hornets don’t have a lot of involvement with the opposition, and being positioned 190th on the planet, they’re perhaps the most vulnerable group on the planet. This should go to the Angkor Warriors easily.
Prediction: Cambodia 2-0 Brunei
The two teams have met eight times before, with Cambodia winning five and losing only once, a 3-2 defeat at the 2012 AFF Championship. Since that misfortune, Cambodia has won their next three apparatuses against Brunei by a total of 10-1. The two teams will meet for the first time since 2016, when Cambodia defeated Brunei 3-0, at the AFF Championship.
Cambodia has now lost five of their last seven games, winning just once, following their 2-1 defeat to Indonesia. Brunei has scored just once in their last three games while giving up 11 goals. The Hornets have failed to win six of their eight games in 2022. Brunei, which made its debut in the competition in 1996, is only making its second appearance.
