In the third FA Cup round on Sunday (January 8), Cardiff City and Leeds United will square off at Cardiff City Stadium.
In their last five matches against the Bluebirds, the Premier League team has not lost, and they will try to break this streak.
On New Year’s Day, Cardiff couldn’t get back on their feet, losing 1-0 to Blackburn Rovers in the Championship. Since their 1-0 win over Sunderland in November, they have only drawn four of their last seven league games.
While Cardiff will try to get back on track and start their cup campaign on a high note, they have had trouble at home, where they have lost five games.
In the meantime, Leeds put on a strong performance, coming back from behind to draw 2-2 with West Ham United. However, they have lost twice in their last four games across all competitions. With 17 points from 18 games, Leeds is 14th in the Premier League.

As they attempt to break out of their slump, Cardiff and Leeds will head into the weekend looking for a boost. Leeds should get a narrow victory to keep their cup hopes alive, despite the possibility of a heated contest at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Prediction: Cardiff 1-2 Leeds United
With a lead of 29-17, Cardiff has a better record in this matchup, and 14 games have ended in a tie. Since losing to Leeds by a score of 2-0 in February 2017, Cardiff hasn’t lost to Leeds in their last five games. Since then, they’ve won four and drawn one.
Since November, Cardiff has played seven competitive games and drawn four of them. Since their friendly match against Real Sociedad in December, which they won 2-1, Leeds has lost four games in all competitions.
