Chris Hemsworth Hails Mirabai Chanu For CWG Gold Medal In His Thor Style

Mirabai Chanu set a new Games Record in the women’s 49kg category with a total lift of 201kg, two kilos more than she managed at the last World Championships.

Meanwhile, when Nooh Dastagir Butt won Pakistan’s first gold medal at the Birmingham Games, one of the congratulators was none other than Indian superstar Mirabai Chanu. As an Olympic medalist, Chanu has catapulted herself to stardom and is an icon not only in India but also for weightlifters in the neighboring country.

Mirabai Chanu is an Indian weightlifter. She is a world record holder in the women’s 49 kg category and is the current Commonwealth Games champion in this category. Also, she first rose to prominence by winning a gold medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, becoming only the second Indian woman to do so. She followed this up with a gold medal at the 2015 Asian Championships and a silver medal at the 2016 World Championships. Chanu is currently ranked No. 1 in the world in her category and is one of India’s top medal prospects for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. And now, she won the gold medal at CWG 2022.
