On December 14, Colombo Stars (CS) will face Dambulla Aura (DG) at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in the 14th match of the Lanka Premier League. The Dasun Shanaka-led Dambulla Aura are now under a lot of strain, as are the Stars, who have only won one of their first four matches in the competition.
Following a disappointing start to the season, both teams will be anxious to win and stay in the race. When these two teams played earlier in the season, Colombo Stars came out on top after a tense battle, and a similar outcome is likely this time around.

The competition for the top four spots and their position in the standings in the Lanka Premier League is gradually gaining traction. Kandy Falcons and Jaffna Kings are leading the way, with Galle Gladiators and Colombo Stars behind by some distance. Dambulla Aura, on the other side, are at the bottom of the table with no victories. If they win all of their remaining matches, their qualification hopes are already dependent on the other results, however a loss in this match will effectively knock them out of the competition. If Colombo Stars win this match, they will gain not just from their victory but also from Dambulla Aura’s departure.
Niroshan Dickwella, 29, has scored 125 runs in four matches thus far in the competition. The opener is presently one of the top run scorers in the Lanka Premier League. He was outstanding against Dambulla Aura in the last encounter and will attempt to overpower the bowlers once more.
Lahiru Kumara, 25, has been outstanding throughout the campaign. So far, the bowler has six wickets at an economy rate of 10.81 in three matches. Despite his high economy rate, he will be required to assist his team with critical breakthroughs.
So far, Pallekele has been a batter’s paradise. As bowlers frequently struggle to take up wickets, the ball comes to the bat beautifully. After winning the toss, it is best to bat first, and anything above 160 is a respectable score to defend.
Colombo is a relatively sluggish pitch that mostly benefits bowlers. Batters can benefit if they can get a rhythm on this track. We anticipate humid conditions, with dew likely in the second part of the game.
The game will also be live broadcast on Sony LIV’s website and app. In India, the match will be broadcast live on Sony Sports Ten 1, Sony Sports Ten 1 HD, Sony Sports Ten 5, and Sony Sports Ten 5 HD.
