Daniil Medvedev won his first match at the French Open, which was never certain for the second-seeded Russian. This triumph has been  first of the popular russian player after enduring hernia surgery over two months ago. On his comeback, he was defeated in the first round of the Geneva Open. On Court Suzanne Lenglen, the U.S. Open winner defeated Argentina’s Facundo Bagnis 6-2, 6-2, 6-2.

Medvedev reached the quarterfinals of Roland Garros last year after losing four consecutive first-round matches.

The Russian won his first match after undergoing hernia surgery over two months ago. On his return, he lost in the first round of the Geneva Open.

Medvedev reached the final of the Australian Open this year, but was defeated in five sets by Rafael Nadal.

In the first round of the French Open, Danish youngster Holger Rune defeated 14th-seeded Denis Shapovalov 6-3, 6-1, 7-6 (4).

Rune, 19, won the BMW Open earlier this month and advanced to the semifinals in Lyon last week.

Shapovalov battled down to force a tiebreaker in the final quarter, but went down 3-1 and couldn’t recover, putting a forehand wide on match point.

In 2019, Rune won the French Open Junior Championship.

In Munich, the Dane overcame Alexander Zverev to win his first tour championship.

Daniil Sergeyevich Medvedev is a professional prominent tennis player from Russia. The Association of Tennis Professionals presently ranks him second in the world (ATP).
