Chelsea proprietor Todd Boehly has allegedly held direct discussions with midfielder Bricklayer Mount to attempt to persuade him to remain at Stamford Scaffold. The Blues’ contract negotiations for the midfielder have stalled, and he has been linked to Liverpool and Manchester United.
According to a report in The Athletic, Boehly has taken an individual interest in getting Mount to sign another arrangement at the club. He sees the Englishman as an important part of their plans for the future and wants him to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Due to his desire for a shorter contract, the 24-year-old has stalled contract negotiations over the past few months. The midfielder is declining to sign a drawn out bargain that would see him enter his 30s on a similar agreement.
Liverpool and Manchester United are attempting to persuade him to leave by taking advantage of the circumstance. Newcastle United and Bayern Munich are said to be keeping an eye on the situation, as are Arsenal and Manchester City.
Mason Mount should stay with Chelsea, says Joe Cole:
Joe Cole has urged Chelsea to give Mason Mount the contract he wants and sign him up for the future. Mount is a former England international. He accepts the midfielder has procured another arrangement and his requests ought to be satisfied.
Bricklayer Mount is presumably staying there thinking: ‘ I’ve been playing for this club for three or four years, won the Champions League, and been pushed forward in every season. He is a leader who puts himself first for the team. I’m sure he wants to stay at Chelsea.
I have no idea what’s going on, and I have no idea what they’re doing; I’m not even sure where they value each other. Most likely, he thinks. He is currently out of the team, which puts Chelsea and Mason in a dangerous position.
Football is extremely flighty, we can fail to remember what a decent player Bricklayer Mount is. Even more so in this generation, players are forgotten after three to four weeks of absence. I think Chelsea need to recall what an extraordinary player he is.
He will arrive well. would be the first spot on my list. To find a solution, there needs to be some compromise. He sees the Englishman as an important part of their plans for the future and wants him to stay at Stamford Bridge.
