As we know that in the month of July, there was a stir in the Twitter world over some nicknames for Lakers sophomore Austin Reaves. Some of the new nicknames that were coming out sounded a bit insulting, but they were all a joke at the end of the day. Some NBA players who have spoken out on the situation include Draymond Green and Kyle Kuzma.

Hence, if you follow Kyle Kuzma or Draymond Green, you’ll know that these two guys never back down on anything they say. Whether it’s Kyle Kuzma live-tweeting any NBA game, speaking his mind at a Draymond Green press conference or even on social media, these guys don’t hold back one of Draymond Green recent podcasts passed me the same with Kuzma.

Draymond Green had this to say:

“I saw Austin Reaves, who’s on the Lakers, come out the other day trying to get rid of two nicknames. And it’s like, bro, you haven’t done that much in your career that people try to give you nicknames. Yeah. It really surprised me. when he said that. Brother, you should take those nicknames and try to agree with them.”

Kyle Kuzma had this to say:

“Personally, Hillbilly Kobe is on fire. You have to embrace that. Come on, Bruh. That shit is fire. I’m making it my mantra.”

These two guys seem to think Austin Reaves should adopt some of the nation’s nicknames. Being called Hillbilly Kobe is a great nickname and one that he should keep and allow fans to call him. Reaves hopes to make a big leap in his second season, and there’s no reason he can’t.

What’s the reason for Austin Reaves not keeping nickname?

Reaves gives his reasoning for why he wants to distance himself from nicknames. “I don’t condone any type of gun violence in our country,” Reaves told ESPN’s Dave McMeniman. “But you can’t control what [nicknames] people give you. I didn’t go out there and say my name was that. There have been others, like ‘Hillbilly Kobe,’ who passed away after Kobe. It’s probably not the best thing in the current situation with him.

Instead, Reaves hopes fans will give him a new nickname this season. “I’m always open to new ideas,” he said. “Because there’s always someone who can stay and be better than they were before. So, I’m always open to new things and people thinking on their minds and new things to me.” I stay open. It helps us with brand situations and stuff like that.”

The 24-year-old Reaves may not have earned his NBA streak yet, but he’s doing it. After not being released in 2021, Reaves surprisingly stayed as a rookie in the Lakers’ regular rotation, building a fan base with his heart and production on both ends of the floor. Reaves isn’t the only athlete trying to shed a controversial nickname. Earlier this summer, someone in a different sport had made a similar move.

What do we know about Him?

Moreover, Austin Reaves is an American professional basketball player for the Oklahoma City Thunder of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Also, he played college basketball for the Wichita State Shockers.

Reaves was born in Dallas, Texas and grew up in Meeker, Oklahoma. He attended Meeker High School, where he was a three-sport athlete in basketball, football, and track. Reaves played football and basketball at the University of Arkansas before transferring to Wichita State. Reaves averaged 17.0 points, four rebounds, and three assists per game as a senior, leading the Shockers to a 25–0 start and their first American Athletic Conference regular season title.

However, the controversy of Draymond Green, Kyle Kuzma, keeping his nickname, and Twitter kinds of beef has led to some fans dubbing him “Draymond the Menace.” Fans outside of Oklahoma have taken to calling him “The Real Slim Reaves.” Nevertheless, please contact us through a comment below if you have any queries.
