Elena Rybakina was going to quit tennis 10 months ago : Wimbledon champion 2022 Elena wanted to play tennis just half a year before lifting the title. According to her father wanted to quit tennis 10 months ago. Current Wimbledon Champion surprised one of the title favorites Ons Jabeur with her performance.
In 2018 Elena Switched Allegiances to Kazakhstan. She was born and raised in Russia, before winning her Wimbledon she switched to Kazakhstan. Those who were representing their home country were banned from the tournament
Despite receiving so much extra interest surrounding her origin the world number 25 proved herself by beating the 2019 US Open champion. In the second round, she also defeated former world number one Simon Halep.
Simona was Romania’s first Championship winner in 2019. Elena played against the third seed Jabeur in the Wimbledon Championship final. Her father was so defeated that she almost quit before she had a chance to participate in the Grand Slam Championship.
In a conversation with the media, Elena Rybakina’s father revealed
Her Father said” when she was small she once said to her grandfather I want to be the first. And she goes to that goal to date. According to me, she would still surprise everyone with her game. it’s good that she is now lower to the ground.”
“She understands eating and tries now. She is not going to quit all those she had such a moment a few months ago. Many players go through this face and it happens that you put maximum effort but still there is no result. Just before Wimbledon she could not handle it and left the competition. We had a talk with her in the family and she calmed down and began to train again.” Said her father while interacting with the media.
