Energetic Composure was shown by modern-day rivals- Iris Wang and Nozomi Okuhara. With a height of 157cm, Iris wang has hardly faced any opponents of short height. In PETRONAS Malaysia Open 2022, she faced someone shorter than her who is former world champion Nozomi Okuhara. Okuhara is hardly one centimeter short of Wang, but a bit more accomplished in terms of career.
It’s a treat to watch two fighters with short height and the same playing styles competing against each other through killer smashes, marathon rallies, and deadly drops. They are going to compensate in terms of another department to cope. Both of them have to showcase consistency, speed, foot movement, etc.
The two never faced each other till today and when they did the score was 23-21, 21-18. The rivalry is quite captivating and both possess a never give up attitude. Though short and heightened, both of them are energetic and powerful in their moments.
“It was the first time I’m facing her as a rival. Always learning from her, I consider myself as my ideal in mastering all sorts of tactics and strategies. Thus, it feels great to face her as the competition”, says Wang.
Coming to the characters, they are two of the best fighters in the game who never give in no matter what the situation is.
It was a treat to watch them as they are so equal in terms of strength so it was almost like they were exchanging alternate victories in terms of head-to-head.
Having her all the way to become the global position acquirer at no. 31, Wang seems too happy with her current situation. Wang is from the USA and had to struggle too much to reach where she is today. Okuhara, on the other hand, had been an early bloomer in the game. She would be hoping for the exclusive benefits from the established badminton system in Japan. Wang will finally get a month off before entering into the game again in Asia.
Okuhara considers Wang similar to her. That’s a bit obvious too, considering their physical symmetries as well. Both of them know how to disguise the opponent and that’s what makes this rivalry more interesting for everyone out there.
