In La Liga, Espanyol takes on Osasuna on Saturday at the RCDE Stadium in an effort to secure just their fifth league victory of the season. The Periquitos are currently 15th in the league table, just one point above the relegation zone, with only 20 points from 19 games.
Diego Martnez’s team suffered their first top-flight defeat in five games when they lost 3-1 to Almeria last weekend, following consecutive victories over Getafe and Real Betis. Osasuna is in eighth place with eight more points than Espanyol, despite the fact that Los Rojillos are also coming off a loss.
Last Sunday, Saul Niguez scored the only goal of the game in the 71st minute to give Atletico Madrid a 1-0 victory at El Sadar, handing Los Rojillos their seventh defeat of the season. In their last seven league games, the team has won just once.

Despite the fact that neither team is currently in good form, Osasuna has performed better overall thanks to their resolute defense. Los Rojillos are expected to return home with all three points, so Espanyol’s weak attacking front line may be difficult to break down.
Prediction: Espanyol 0-1 Osasuna
In the 36 matches that the teams have played, Osasuna has beaten Espanyol 17 times and lost 11 times. Since February 2017 (3-0), when they lost four of their next six matches against Osasuna, Espanyol has not defeated the team.
Other than Elche’s poor record of zero victories, Espanyol has had the fewest victories in La Liga this season, with just four. At the moment, Osasuna has a goal difference of zero after scoring and conceding 18 goals.
Osasuna and Espanyol both risk losing two games in a row for the third time this season after losing their previous contests. After only five teams Barcelona (7), Villarreal (14), Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and Real Betis with a combined total of 16 goals conceded,
Osasuna has the best defensive record in La Liga this season with only 18 goals conceded. In La Liga so far this season, Espanyol has conceded 29 goals; Elche, the bottom team, has conceded more.
On Saturday, Espanyol will once again be without Keidi Bare and Adria Pedrosa because of injuries, but the home team is otherwise in good shape going into the game. The Catalan team added five new players in January, including Cesar Montes, Jose Gragera, Fernando Pacheco, Denis Suarez, and Ronael Pierre-Gabriel.
Martin Braithwaite and Joselu will once again operate in the final third of the field, so there shouldn’t be any real surprises in Espanyol’s first XI for this match. Osasuna will be without Ruben Pena and Nacho Vidal because of injuries, but the visitors have not yet reported any additional fitness issues.
After the game against Atletico, head coach Arrasate probably won’t try to change his team’s formation, so it should be a 4-3-3 with Ezequiel Avila playing through the middle. However, Ante Budimir and Darko Brasanac are among the options for a change, and the former would not be out of place in this match.
