The second Twenty20 International (T20I) match between India and New Zealand is scheduled for Sunday, January 29 at Lucknow’s Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. In the first game of the series at Ranchi, New Zealand defeated India by 21 runs to take a 1-0 series lead.
New Zealand chose to bowl first in the opening match, scoring 176 runs in 20 overs while losing 6 wickets. The Indian team scored 155 runs in their chase but lost nine wickets. After that, Washington Sundar scored his first half-century in T20Is, scoring 50 off 28 balls. In-form batter Suryakumar Yadav made 47 off 34 balls, but it wasn’t enough.
The middle overs were chocked by the left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner, who dismissed two batters and gave up just 11 runs in four overs. There are rumors that Prithvi Shaw will take Shubman Gill’s place in the playing 11. The young batsman performed admirably in one-day internationals, but he struggled in Twenty20 matches.
Shubman scored seven runs in six balls in the previous T20 match against New Zealand. The captains of both teams will step forward for a coin toss at 6:30 p.m. IST, and the game will begin at 7:00 p.m. IST.
It all starts in Ranchi at the JSCA International Stadium 🏟
