Pant is not in either the India ODI or T20I squads that will play Sri Lanka at home in the series.
According to reports, he was scheduled to travel to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to treat a knee niggle.
Pant was recently a member of the Bangladeshi Test team that won the series in Bangladesh.
