In the final match of IPL 2022 played on Sunday, Gujarat Titans created history by winning the IPL title in its very first season. The team led by Hardik Pandya defeated Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets. Batting first after winning the toss, the Rajasthan team could score only 130 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Gujarat won the title by losing 3 wickets in 18.1 overs.
Shubman Gill gave the team victory by hitting a six. GT captain Hardik Pandya proved to be the hero of this match. Along with taking three wickets, he also scored 34 runs. Hardik went to play IPL final for the fifth time and every time he became the champion. Earlier, as a player four times, he was part of the champion team of Mumbai.
Gujarat Titans have become the 7th team ever to win the IPL title. Earlier Rajasthan Royals (1 time), Chennai Super Kings (4 times), Kolkata Knight Riders (2 times), Mumbai Indians (5 times), Deccan Chargers (1 time), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (1 time) have won the title. This is only the second time a team has won the title in its first season. Earlier this feat was done by Rajasthan Royals in 2008. IPL was organized for the first time in 2008.
Gujarat captain Hardik Pandya bowled brilliantly in the final match against Rajasthan, taking 3 wickets for 17 runs in 4 overs. He sent Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, and Shimron Hetmyer to the pavilion. Hardik’s bowling was excellent from the first over and none of the batsmen could play a big shot on his ball.
For Gujarat, Rashid Khan bowled very economical in the final match and gave only 18 runs in 4 overs. He also sent Padikkal to the pavilion for 2 runs.
With each match that I watch, my love for the game just increases. All I dream of is to join my passion for writing with that of the game and pen down the live-action.
As a person, I am a quick learner and work well in a team for that is what wins the series.
