KL Rahul’s caption of Lucknow Super Giants was part of the Punjab Kings franchise till last season.
He was the top scorer and leader for the Punjab franchise. Everyone was looking KL Rahul will be the first player to retain for this franchise but just before the retention list media report said that KL Rahul wants to leave the PBKS side and wants to go in the auction and lead some other team.
Actually, Punjab Kings always wants to retain him but KL was not ready to play again for them in upcoming seasons. Team management has invested a lot in him for the last 4 years and we were looking at the team’s future with him.
PBKS retained just two players in the name of M Agarwal and A Singh.
India batter KL Rahul in an interview opened up about his decision to leave PBKS. He called it a tough call and said he wanted to see what was in the store for him.

Now, He was named as one of the drafts picks of LGS, who paid him a huge amount of 17 crore Indian Rupees and made him their captain. Rahul now had opened up about the decision of leaving the previous franchise.
In Speaking to Red Bull cricket, Rahul said that he had a great run with PBKS and to part ways with them was a tough call. The reason he has given behind his decision is that he wants to try something different.
“I have been with them for four years and I’ve had a great run with them. Just wanted to see what’s in store for me and if there’s a new journey for me. It was a tough call obviously. I have been attached to Punjab for a long time. I wanted to see if I can do something else,” Rahul said.
KL Rahul was leader, opener, and wicketkeeper for Punjab Kings. He had joined the franchise in 2018 and in his first innings he smashed the fastest half-century of the history in IPL.
He scored 659 runs for PBKS in IPL 2018 at his debut season and then followed it with the 593, 670, and 626 runs in the next three seasons of the IPL. The role of captaincy is given to him in the IPL 2020 and IPL 2021 but he also failed to lift the maiden trophy for his franchise even to take in playoffs.
