Cameron Green is likely to start a bidding war among the IPL franchises in the mini-auction.

The bidding process is scheduled to take place in Kochi on December 23.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 auction is scheduled to take place in Kochi on December 23.

In front of the offering occasion, 991 players have enlisted themselves to go under the sledge.

However, with a squad limit of 25 players, the franchises can only sign 87 cricketers, 30 of whom may be international players.

As with every auction, teams will concentrate on selecting high-quality all-rounders because of their constant demand.

At IPL auctions, all-rounders typically fetch a lot of money, and the Australian sensation Cameron Green will be a hot property at the mini-auction.

Following his success with the bat in India earlier this year, it is likely that the swashbuckling Australian all-rounder will stoke a bidding war among the IPL franchises.

Green’s stint as a bowler was already impressive.

At a starting price of INR 2 crore, Green registered his name in the lucrative tournament’s mini-auction.

Despite the Australian coach Andrew McDonald’s recent remarks casting doubt on Green’s availability.

But since the all-rounder will play in the Indian Premier League, let’s look at three teams that could bid on Green in the mini-auction.

    Lucknow Super Giants

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will undoubtedly be looking for an all-rounder after letting go of Jason Holder.

Green might be a good choice. Strikingly, Holder worked effectively with the ball for Lucknow yet couldn’t leave his contact with the bat.

If Marcus Stoinis and Deepak Hooda bat in the top order for LSG, the team led by KL Rahul can try Green as the finisher, a role he has done well in ODIs and Tests but not yet in T20s.

    SunRisers Hyderabad

SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) must reassemble their team from the ground up with a massive remaining purse of INR 42.25 crore.

Captain Kane Williamson, finisher Nicholas Pooran, and all-rounder Romario Shepherd have been let go.

Green will bring a lot of balance to the team because he can bat in the top order.

Green has scored 61 (30 and 52 (21) runs as an opener against India prior to the T20 World Cup 2022.

His series strike rate of 214.55 would be notable for all franchises, including SRH, which had the worst powerplay strike rate in 2022 with 108.52.

    Punjab Kings (PBKS)

Like the Sunrisers, Punjab Kings (PBKS) let go a lot of players, including their captain, Mayank Agarwal, who had a terrible year with the bat and raised a lot of questions about his leadership.

The Kings have given the reins to Shikhar Dhawan ahead of the mini-auction.

Dhawan, Jonny Bairstow, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, and Liam Livingstone have been sorted out in the middle order, and Green may well become their go-to man in the lower order as their top player now that PBKS have released finisher Odean Smith.

With their budget of INR 32.2 crore, signing Green could change the game because it will allow PBKS to play an additional batter.
