Ahmedabad, May 25: Reigning champions Gujarat Titans will look to keep their title defence alive when they face record champions Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023 Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday (May 26).
Both teams will look to seal the final spot as Hardik Pandya-led GT will look to bounce back from the Qualifier 1 loss to Chennai Super Kings, while Rohit Sharma’s MI aim to carry the winning momentum from their Eliminator victory over Lucknow Super Giants.
The winner of the match will face four-time winners Chennai Super Kings in the final on Sunday (May 28) at the same venue. CSK beat GT in qualifier 1 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday (May 23) to book a direct entry into the summit clash.
GT will be a confident side, having beaten the Mumbai Indians at home earlier this season. But will be wary of Mumbai Indians outstanding record in playoffs and the overall record. The five-time champions, however, possess a poor record during their limited visits to Ahmedabad.
GT possible 11: Shubman Gill, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Hardik Pandya (c), Dasun Shanaka, David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Mohit Sharma, Noor Ahmad, Mohammed Shami, Yash Dayal
MI possible 11: Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk), Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav, Tim David, Tilak Varma, Chris Jordan, Hrithik Shokeen, Piyush Chawla, Jason Behrendorff, Akash Madhwal
There is no chance of rain as of now for the GT vs MI prediction. Temperatures will be around the 37 degrees Celsius. The humidity will be in the high 50s. The pitch is expected to be a sporting one. An overly high-scoring game may not be on the cards.
Gujarat Titans vs Mumbai Indians IPL 2023 Qualifier 2 match will be televised on Star Sports Network in India.
