The weight lifter, who was born in Mizoram and competed in the Olympics, finished with a combined total of 274 kg and became the first Indian athlete under the age of 25 to win a bar of gold for India.

    Early Life

At the tender age of six, the young weightlifter who would go on to become India’s first juvenile Olympian began his adventure.

His father encouraged him to try weightlifting and assisted him in developing the skills necessary to become a professional weightlifter. Jeremy’s father had high hopes for all five of his boys to become boxers, but fate had other plans for the youngster.

    Jeremy Lalrinnunga Personal Life

Jerry Lalrinnunga was born on October 26th, 2002 in the city of Aizawl, which is located in the state of Mizoram in India.

His father, Lalneihtluanga, competed in boxing in the past. During the 1990s, Jeremy’s father won a national junior boxing championship and went unbeaten for a period of six consecutive years.

Everyone anticipated that Lalneihtluanga would one day become a renowned boxer who would bring India’s honour to the sport.

On the international scene, he was unable to make a particularly strong impression for whatever reason. On the other hand, he urged both of his boys to take up boxing as a profession. However, Jeremy decided to go about things in a different way.

Jeremy and his father travelled to the Army Institute of Sports (AIS) in Pune for his entrance trials after he had put in a lot of effort over the previous two years.

Jeremy’s desire to pursue a profession as a weightlifter was never challenged by Jeremy’s father, who has been there for him through every step of his journey.

    Career and Working Life

Malsawma Khiangte, Jeremy’s coach, encouraged him to participate in the Army Sports Institute trials in the year 2011. They determined that Jeremy was a formidable opponent after reviewing his performance at the World Youth Championships, where he was awarded a silver medal for his efforts.

In addition, Jeremy’s accomplishments include winning a silver medal in the 56-kilogramme weight class at both the World Championships in 2017 and the Asian Championships in 2018.

In his professional life, Jeremy Lalrinunga has witnessed a meteoric rise, with each successive performance being better than the one before it.

The mental resilience of the lifter has allowed him to achieve a great deal of success at a very young age. Jeremy always performs to the best of his ability, regardless of whether he is in a practice or a game setting. His self-confidence is his greatest asset, and the lifter has a habit of looking at the bright side of every situation.

Prior to competing in the Youth Olympics, he guaranteed his coach, Vijay Sharma, that he would bring home the top prize in his event.

Vijay Sharma, who also trained R.V. Rahul, who won the silver medal, has never put as much work into Jeremy as he has put into R.V. Rahul. Because he never lets himself get worked up about any of his contests, Jeremy Lalrinunga has earned a reputation for having an easygoing demeanour. In spite of his youth, the athlete nonetheless poses a significant challenge to those who are competing against him.

Jeremy is practising hard for his next performance, which he hopes to take part in in the Olympics in 2020. The weightlifter, who is only 16 years old, is attempting to steer clear of any sort of controversy or injury. There is no question in anyone’s mind that the young weightlifter will bring home the gold for his country.
