Gujarat Giants are set to lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday (March 8) at the Brabourne Stadium. Smriti Mandhana’s RCB are struggling at the moment as they are yet to register their first win of the tournament. So far, they have faced back-to-back defeats in both of their games played so far.
First, RCB lost to Delhi Capitals by 60 runs, and later on, they were outclassed by Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians by 9 wickets. Giants also faced defeat in both their matches against Mumbai and UP Warriorz.
After a disastrous start in the WPL 2023, both teams will be desperate to register their first win of the tournament. All eyes will be on RCB captain Smriti Mandhana as she’s the most expensive player in the league this year. RCB’s bowling attack will also be under the radar as so far they have only taken 3 wickets in the two games played so far.
Teams have been winning the toss and electing to chase. In the afternoon game, a total of 200-plus runs was scored in the first innings, which resulted in a victory. However, the evening fixture was a complete contrast, as RCB struggled to score 155 runs, which MI chased down in just the 15th over.
The sixth match of WPL 2023 is set to take place between GG and RCB at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, and it is expected to be an exciting game with no rain delays anticipated. The weather forecast indicates a 0% chance of precipitation throughout the match.
It seems that scoring runs at both venues of the WPL 2023 is relatively easy. Although the teams batting first won the initial games, the chasing teams also secured victories in the tournament. To successfully defend their score, a team would need to achieve a total of over 180 while batting first. In these conditions, spinners are expected to hold an advantage over pacers.
“As batters, we need to put up a good total on board. It’s a pretty short tournament, we can’t dwell on it. In franchise cricket, even after two losses, we can turn it around quickly.” Smriti Mandhana after the team’s loss against Mumbai.
