“Big Red Summer” returns for its second year from July 18 to September 1, and with official partner SC Johnson, by giving families more active and fun summertime activities.
The Big Red Summer is an event designed to help people in physical and mental wellbeing through sport, with varying games on offer for all age groups. This will be at community hubs across England, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Liverpool City Region. Various sports such as football, rugby, cricket and gymnastics will be available along with club workshops and summer camps.
As the theme for the Big Red Summer, sustainability and wellbeing is appropriate for Liverpool FC and its ambitions to make a positive difference. The club, which focuses on its people, communities, and the planet in order to help future generations of Reds, will use its voice for good through education in an educational campaign on the importance of sustainability.
LFC Foundation and SC Johnson will provide reusable water bottles to help save plastic waste, as well as refill stations for the bottles.
With its Big Red Summer program, LFC Foundation is engaging with over 7,000 people this summer. The program has an estimated 7000 opportunities to enjoy the outdoors together through 160 accessible activities spanning six weeks of the school holiday period.
