Lawson’s college basketball career was spent in South Carolina.

After taking notice of his play for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Summer League, the Minnesota Timberwolves wasted no time in making an offer to sign him to a contract after watching him compete for the Mavericks in the league.

Lawson participated in college basketball in South Carolina for a total of three years before entering his name into the draught in the year 2021.

After being passed over in the draught, he spent the previous season competing in the NBA G League for the College Park Skyhawks. During that time, he did not make the team. In addition to that, he was given the opportunity to play for the Guelph Nighthawks, who compete in the Canadian Elite Basketball League.

Lawson, who was born in Toronto, signed a two-way contract with the Timberwolves. This means that he will spend time playing for both the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Iowa Wolves, which is the G-League team that is affiliated with the Timberwolves. Lawson’s first professional basketball game was played for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

If Lawson continues to play at the same level as he did in the Summer League, he should have a successful season this coming year. During his stint with the Mavericks, he had a scoring average of 15.6 points per game while also having a field goal percentage of 51.9 and a three-point shooting percentage that was an astounding 50 percent.

It is not entirely out of the realm of possibility for him to one day become a player who is used in rotation in the NBA. It’s possible that Lawson is just finding his stride at the perfect time because some people are just late bloomers or need a few more years to grow, but it seems like he’s getting there at the optimal time for him to get there. It is in a team’s best advantage to keep a sharp eye out for players of his calibre who might try to steal the spotlight.

    Gamecocks

If you need further evidence that he has what it takes to be successful at the professional level, you don’t have to look any further than his undergraduate record. Lawson was a three-level scorer for the Gamecocks, meaning that he was a danger on the ball, and a danger off the ball, and he put up outstanding statistics as a volume shooter. He did all of these things simultaneously. In addition to that, he was capable of scoring in a wide variety of different methods.

While he was a junior at South Carolina, he recorded an average of 16.6 points and also served as a competitive threat on the defensive end of the court, as he averaged 1.5 steals per game. He was a member of the South Carolina basketball team.

Young players who have not yet established themselves as valuable contributors to an NBA team have traditionally benefited from the opportunity to demonstrate their ability through the use of two-way contracts. This opportunity allows the player to play for both the player’s primary team and their second team.

In terms of Lawson, it’s entirely conceivable that the aforementioned scenario will play out sooner rather than later. Given that he is only 22 years old and that he has already played at the professional level, it is reasonable to assume that he will be able to achieve consistent success while playing for the Iowa Wolves.

In the meantime, he has a great deal of spare time on his hands, which he can use to pave a prosperous road professionally for himself. If he puts in the work, there is a strong chance that he will put himself in a scenario by this time next year that will allow him to earn a standard deal, and I feel there is a good probability that he will put himself in this situation if he puts in the effort.
