Minnesota Vikings versus the Indianapolis Colts: First quarter recap and second quarter conversation

I am trying to figure out if this is the real Minnesota Vikings team playing this afternoon? They are not doing anything you would expect to see from a 10 win team. pic.twitter.com/HAnTQ2h86p

After the Vikings won the coin toss and deferred to the second half

Indianapolis received the ball first. After receiving the kickoff from Greg Joseph and returning it to close to midfield, the Colts ended around Michael Pittman Jr. for a significant gain into Minnesota territory. The Colts got down to the Minnesota 1-yard line all the way, but they lost a lot of yards on a third-and-goal play, so they had to settle for a Chase McLaughlin field goal to make it 3-0 right away.

After a touchback, the Vikings’ offence took over at their own 25. One first down was gained by the offence, but a couple of incomplete passes necessitated a Ryan Wright punt. We thought so when Wright’s punt was stopped by Ifeadi Odenigbo, a former Viking, but JoJo Doman returned it for a touchdown and scored from 24 yards out. The Vikings fell behind 10-0 after the successful extra point.

Dalvin Cook made a big run on the Vikings’ next drive

gaining 40 yards and putting the Vikings at the Indianapolis 35. And afterward, on the following play, Cook mishandled it away with Isaiah Rodgers recuperating for a turnover.

Matt Ryan found Jelani Woods for a big gain into the Minnesota red zone after the Colts took the ball again and marched right down the field. After that, Ryan found Deon Jackson for an easy touchdown of one yard, and the Vikings were 17-0 down with less than four minutes left in the first quarter.

After that, the Vikings took over at the 22-yard line and were faced with a fourth-and-1 situation from their own 31-yard line. The Vikings chose to pursue it, and. They didn’t get it, so the Colts got the ball back.

From the Vikings’ 16-yard line, the Colts face a first-and-10 situation in the second quarter.

At U.S. Bank Stadium, the Minnesota Vikings are 17-0 down to the Indianapolis Colts, making it the worst first quarter in team history. How about we check whether the Vikings can haul their heads out in the subsequent quarter.
