On January 19, top-ranked Mumbai City FC will take on NorthEast United, who finished last in the league, at the Mumbai Football Arena. With a victory over the Highlanders and staying at the top, the Islanders have a chance to improve their chances of winning the ISL shield. They are coasting through their opponents convincingly.
In their previous match, Des Buckingham’s team defeated ATK Mohun Bagan 1-0 in Kolkata, thanks to a single goal from Lallianzuala Chhangte. With 41 goals, the Indian Super League (ISL) champions have scored more goals than any other team in the league. At the back, they’re not too shady either. In 14 games, Mumbai has only given up 13 goals, which shows how good their defense is.
On the other hand, NorthEast United is having trouble on both sides of the field. The visitors, who have scored the fewest goals in the league, have only scored 13 times. They have struggled on the opposing side of the field, conceding nearly three goals per game and more than any other team in the division (9 goals). Vincenzo Alberto Annese’s strategy against a formidable opponent will be interesting to watch.

Mumbai City FC is more than capable of overwhelming their rivals, despite the fact that the visitors were able to earn a point against FC Goa.
Prediction: Mumbai City FC 5-0 NorthEast United FC
In the ISL, the two teams have met 17 times, with the Islanders winning eight of those matches. In contrast, the Highlanders have won five games and drawn four. When they met in Guwahati earlier in the season, Mumbai City FC defeated NorthEast United FC 3-1.
Matches played: 17
MCFC wins: 8
NEUFC wins: 5
Draws: 4
After serving a one-game suspension, Pereyra Diaz will be allowed back into the starting lineup, and Amey Ranawade will continue to be out with an injury. Rostyn Griffiths might not play because he hurt himself in their last game against ATK Mohun Bagan.
