The 2022 FIFA World Cup is back in action with another set of games this week. On Tuesday, Qatar will play the Netherlands under Louis van Gaal in a Group A match at the Al Bayt Stadium. Last week, Qatar became the first team to exit the 2022 World Cup, and they have largely not participated in the tournament.
Although the hosts performed admirably against Senegal, this match will present a formidable challenge. In their World Cup matchup with Ecuador, which ended in a 1-1 draw, the Netherlands also bragged about their deceitfulness and appeared to be second-best. The Oranje will be dissatisfied with anything less than a victory this week because they remain the favorites to win their group.

Despite having a well-rounded team, the Netherlands has not performed well at the World Cup this year. The Oranje have a point to prove in this match after Ecuador outplayed them largely last week. Qatar cannot afford another failure in this matchup after struggling to establish itself in its own backyard. On paper, the Netherlands should prevail in this match because they are the superior team.
Prediction: Netherlands 2-0 Qatar
This week, Qatar will attempt to surprise the Oranje, who has never officially played against the Netherlands. In the FIFA World Cup, the Netherlands won all four matches against Asian teams, scoring 11 goals and allowing just one goal.
This is the Netherlands’ fourth FIFA World Cup matchup against a host nation; they have won two of their three previous encounters. The Netherlands have only lost their final group stage game once in their eight appearances when they lost to Scotland in 1978.
No host nation has ever lost all three of its World Cup matches thus far, and Qatar has lost both of them. This year, the Netherlands has only attempted four shots on goal at the World Cup, but out of those four attempts, they have scored three goals.
