Friday marks the start of round 24 of the Belgian Jupiler League, which features a matchup between KV Oostende and Anderlecht at Diaz Arena. The visitors will attempt to maintain their dominance going into this weekend’s game against De Kustboys, who they have defeated five times in a row.
Last Saturday at the Guldensporen Stadion, KV Oostende held on to draw 2-2 with KV Kortrijk to stop the slide. Prior to that, Dominik Thalhammer’s team had lost seven games, including a 2-1 defeat to Union Saint-Gilloise on December 20 in the Belgian Cup.
Oostende is currently 17th in the Jupiler League with 18 points from 23 games, three points behind Eupen, who is 15th and just outside the danger zone. Anderlecht drew 0-0 with Royal Antwerp last time out, preventing them from claiming a second victory in a row.
This came after they beat RFC Seraing 1-0 on January 22, ending their three-game losing streak. Anderlecht is currently 11th in the league with 28 points from 23 games, five points behind the Conference League playoff spots.

Anderlecht will head into the weekend hoping for a positive outcome after struggling to find their stride in the new year. Given Oostende’s current form, we are backing the visitors to win on Friday, even though Anderlecht has had the better of this matchup.
Prediction: KV Oostende 1-2 Anderlecht
Anderlecht has a significantly better record in the history of this matchup, winning 16 of the last 26 meetings. Oostende has won six games during that time, splitting four of those victories. Since their 3-2 defeat to Oostende in December 2019, Anderlecht has won three of their last five matches against the Dutch team.
Two of those matches ended in draws. Oostende have only managed two draws and have lost seven of their last nine matches across all competitions. Since their 1-0 loss to KRC Genk in the cup in December, Anderlecht hasn’t lost in their last three away games. They have won two of those games and drawn one.
Cameron McGeehan and Maxime D’Arpino must be ruled out by Ostend manager Dominik Thalhammer. Brian Riemer, manager of RSC Anderlecht, has to choose a team that has a lot of injuries. Hannes Delcroix and Marco Kana aren’t ready to play. Due to his suspension, Benito Raman is ineligible for this match.
