Prior to the T20 World Cup, Pakistan confirms vital tri-series. A tri-series against Bangladesh and New Zealand will wrap up Pakistan’s preparations for the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup this year.
Babar Azam’s team will depart for New Zealand at the beginning of October to play at least four T20 International matches in Christchurch before their T20 World Cup opener on October 23 against longtime rival India at the MCG.
After the Pakistan skipper missed the 2020/21 trip due to a thumb injury, this will be Babar’s first international T20 encounter on New Zealand soil since the beginning of 2018.
Babar is aiming to swiftly adapt to the circumstances because the tri-series would be a crucial part of Pakistan’s preparation for the T20 World Cup this year.
‘The tri-series in New Zealand will allow us to arrive early and not just acclimate for the T20 World Cup in Australia, but also provide final touches to our preparations‘, Babar said. He further adds ‘I am glad that we will be playing in the tri-series in New Zealand…After missing the most recent series in New Zealand owing to a thumb injury, I’m eager to play cricket in Christchurch against two top opponents..’
