On day three of the Ranji Trophy Elite Group D match between Gujarat and Chandigarh, which took place in Ahmedabad on Thursday, Gujarat’s skipper Priyank Panchal smashed an unbeaten 257 to help Gujarat secure a big 292-run first innings lead over Chandigarh. When play resumed the previous morning, the score was 249 for 3, and Panchal proceeded to hit a magnificent double century. His enormous 307-run unbroken partnership for the fifth wicket with M A Hingrajia (151 not out, 12 fours, 2 sixes) placed Chandigarh on the defensive. When play was called off for the day, the home side had Chandigarh reeling at 46 for 2, still 246 runs behind, and looking down the barrel of an innings loss.

    Panchal

who has been one of the most prolific scorers on the domestic circuit, demonstrated why he is a difficult customer by grounding the bowling attack of the opposition. When together, Hingrajia and Panchal were able to send the Chandigarh bowlers on a leather hunt and capitalise on loose deliveries. Hingrajia showed to be a capable foil for Panchal.

The left-arm spinner Abid Mushtaq returned to Jammu and Kashmir with eight wickets after leading Jammu and Kashmir to a victory against Vidarbha by 39 runs in Nagpur. The host side needed to score 141 runs to win, but they were bowled out for only 101 by Mushtaq, who ran down the batting order of the Vidarbha squad as they fell from 40 for 2 in the 16th over all the way to being dismissed in 34 overs.

Tamil Nadu is looking for an outright victory against Delhi, and brave Pradosh hits a century.

Pradosh Ranjan Paul, a young left-hander, kept TamilNadu firmly in sight of their first outright win against a circumspect Delhi on day three of the Ranji Trophy Group B game on Thursday. Paul notched his first first-class century while displaying admirable character, and his performance kept TamilNadu in firm sight of their first outright victory.

Pradosh’s career-best 124 helped propel Tamil Nadu to a 427 for 8 score when they declared their first innings. All-rounder Vijay Shankar (52) and tailender Aswin Crist (32) contributed to the team’s success. By the time play ended, Delhi had reached a score of 28-1 and were down by 96 runs. This deficit would carry over into the final day of the match.

Only one team can walk away with all three points from this match, and that team is Tamil Nadu. However, in order to do so, they will need to defeat Delhi in under two sessions while keeping the light-factor in mind. Due to the low visibility caused by the rapid decline in light that occurs in this section of the nation throughout the winter, only 70, 75.1, and 76 overs of play were feasible on three separate days.

Even though Tamil Nadu could expand their advantage to about 175 runs, Tamil Nadu skipper Baba Indrajith made the correct decision to declare even if the sporting declaration was mostly made with the consideration of the time issue.

“There was no plan in the traditional sense. We were instructed to continue playing until tea, but the light began to fade unexpectedly, so it was agreed that we would declare and work toward getting two wickets before the conclusion of the day “Pradosh revealed this information to members of the media after the match for the day had concluded.

The poor lighting and the stand at Dhawan-Vasisht aggravate Uttarakhand.

On day three of the Ranji Trophy Group A match, the weather and the middle-order batters for Himachal Pradesh, Akash Vasisht and Rishi Dhawan, continued to frustrate the efforts of the hosts Uttarakhand to win the match. As stumps were drawn, the guests of Himachal Pradesh had reached a score of 327 for four.

Himachal Pradesh made amends in the second innings by erasing the deficit and even gaining a modest 40-run advantage. This comes after Himachal Pradesh was bowled out for only 49 runs in the first innings and faced the possibility of losing the innings as a result of Uttarakhand’s score of 336.

Vasisht and Dhawan continued their innings for the visitors from where they had left off on Wednesday on 277 for 4, with the former being just eight runs short of his century and the latter completing his half century in the 14 overs that were possible on Thursday due to poor light. The visitors reached their current score of 277 for 4.

Karnataka primed for large lead despite valiant effort by Goa batters

Karnataka seemed to be on the verge of securing a large first innings lead over Goa on day three of their Elite Group C match on Thursday. This was despite the fact that three of the home team’s batsmen battled their way to half-centuries throughout the match.

After the end of the day’s play, Goa’s score was 321 for 8, and their skipper, Darshan Mishal, was still batting (134 balls, 9 fours, 1 six). This was in response to Karnataka’s score of 603 for 7 declared. After the overnight score was 45 for 1, Suyash S. Prabhudesai (87, 165 balls, 12 fours), and Sumiran Amonkar (30) added 19 runs before the latter was bowled by Shubang Hegde (2/79). During their partnership, Suyash S. Prabhudesai hit 12 fours.

Until Snehal Kauthankar (21) was dismissed by off-spinner K Gowtham (3/109), Prabhudesai was a part of a partnership that lasted for fifty runs with Snehal Kauthankar.
