Pujara Claim to Return in Team India: 4th Consecutive Centuries for Sussex in County Cricket

While the whole of India is immersed in the thrill of IPL, India’s Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara is playing the English County Test Championship in England. Pujara has performed brilliantly while playing for Sussex and has scored four centuries in four matches.

He also has two double centuries. After Pujara’s stellar performance, it will be difficult for the selectors to keep Pujara out of the Indian Test squad for the upcoming tour of England.

Performace of Pujara in County 2022

Playing for Sussex, Pujara has scored 717 runs in 4 matches with the help of four centuries. This also includes double centuries against Derbyshire and Durham. During this period, Pujara’s average is above 135. He is on the list of highest run-scorers in the championship.

After this brilliant performance from Pujara, he can be part of the team India for the only Test that remained against England in July. Nobody has a doubt about his skills and temperament, I think it was just a matter of time.

Dropped Since Sri Lanka Series

Pujara, who has played 95 Tests for India, has been battling a very bad phase in international cricket for some time now. He has not been able to score any century in the last 52 international test innings.

Pujara lost his position from the Test team against Sri Lanka after his poor performance on the South Africa tour. Pujara’s stellar performance in county cricket could serve as a lifeline for his downhill Test career

Pujara became the first batsman to score the most double centuries in first-class cricket

With two double centuries in county cricket, Pujara has 15 double centuries in first-class cricket. Pujara has reached number 9 in the list of top-10 batsmen who have scored the most double centuries in first-class cricket.

Earlier, only Ranjit Singh was the player on the list with 14 double centuries for India.
