Racing Santander, once a powerful and stable member of the strongest tier of Spanish football, is going through difficult times in recent years. They stayed in the third class for a long time, and last season by winning the first place they managed to quickly return to the second tier, where their number one goal will be survival.
For now, Los verdiblancos’ target is moving in the right direction, but they are still not safe, as they are just seven points above Ponferradina, who are first below the line (relegation zone). Meanwhile, Huesca is a typical example of a yo-yo club in recent years.
In the 2017/18 season, the club from Aragon was promoted to LaLiga for the first time in its history, after which they changed the rank every following season – until 2020/21 when they left the elite rank of the Spanish championship. Since then, Huesca has not changed the environment for the second season, but this they left quite a decent performance and will want to catch the hook for the teams from the upper part of the table. However, they will not have an easy task, as they are 10 points behind the play-off positions.
The thing that most characterizes the meetings between Racing Santander and Huesca is poor efficiency and frequent goal scoring droughts. In five occasions so far, the mentioned teams measured their strengths, and the nets shaken only six times in that, which gives an average of 1.2 goals per game.
The line of 2.5 goals, as we can see, these two teams never managed to pass. Plus, when we add to all that that in the first rivalry of this season, not only was there no winner, but there were also no goals (0-0), then it is easy to conclude why the low-scoring could continue this time as well.

The club from Aragon, meanwhile, seems to have subscribed to draws. The team, which is led from the bench by Cuco Ziganda, has shared the spoils with its rivals seven times in the last 10 rounds, and as many as 13 times in total, so it is no wonder that they carry the epithet “king of draws” in this year’s edition Segunda Division.
Huesca has proven to be a tough nut to crack lately, as they are undefeated in their last five games (W2, D3). Otherwise, the squad from “El Alcoraz” does not receive many goals this season, 25 in 30 games. However, they are not overly effective in attack, 27 hits, of which only 9 on the road, which gives a rather low average.

Center-back, Pablo Bobadilla Saenz, has not yet registered the first minutes in the current Segunda Division season. He was often on the bench, but a muscle injury prevented him from taking the field.
Midfielder Cristian Salvador Gonzalez should be the only unavailable in the visiting team for Monday’s clash. He is recovering from a thigh injury that he suffered on February 19 against Granada, two rounds ago.

Santander won Huesca at their “El Sardinero” both times so far with 1-0, and we are of the opinion that nothing will change in that view this time either. Especially if we consider that Huesca’s defensive bedem is difficult to break through, with four of the last five visits ended under 2.5 goals.
Our analysis of all available data, including recent performances and player stats, suggests the most likely outcome of this match is a Racing de Santander win with a probability of 45.51%. A draw has a probability of 29.4% and a win for Huesca has a probability of 25.13%.
🗣️ "It was a close game. We had our chances. We need to be a little bit better inside the box. But we’re doing a great job and there are so many positive things to take with us.”
