Madrid’s soccer fans are already looking forward to Real Madrid’s match against Liverpool FC on 15 March 2023 at the Santiago Bernabeu. Real Madrid supporters will be hoping for a repeat of their previous victory over Espanyol, which they won 3-1 in La Liga.
Real Madrid had 71% possession in that match, 22 attempts on goal, and 7 goals. Vinicius Junior (22′), Éder Milito (39′), and Marco Asensio (93′) all scored goals for Real Madrid. Ten shots on goal were made by Espanyol, three of which were successful. For Espanyol, Joselu scored at 8′.
In their last six games, Real Madrid under Carlo Ancelotti has scored 11 goals. They have conceded 5 goals in that time, which is their comparative total. After a misfortune in their last game against Bournemouth in Chief Association activity, Liverpool and their fans will expect to come by an improved outcome this time.
Liverpool had 69% possession in that match, and they made 15 shots on goal, six of which were successful. At the other end, Bournemouth had five shots, two of which were successful. Philip Charging (28′) was the scorer for Bournemouth.
Recently, it has become evident that at least one team has failed to score in games involving Liverpool. It has occurred five times in their six previous games. Their opponents have scored 6 goals in these matches, while Liverpool has scored 13. However, it is not certain that this pattern will continue into the subsequent game.

We think Liverpool has enough to take out Real Madrid, but not nearly as many as they will have scored against them. After all, is said and done, we anticipate that Real Madrid will prevail 2-1 in a close game. Probably a good one.
A quick look at the results that these teams have had in the past, dating back to April 11, 2014, reveals that Liverpool has not had a good time in these games. They haven’t won a single game, but Real Madrid has been better, winning 83% of the games they’ve played against each other.
During this time, they combined to score 17 goals, with 13 coming from Los Blancos and 4 from The Reds. 2.83 goals have been scored on average per game.
Ballon d’Or winner Benzema has since rejoined his teammates for full training and is expected to lead the line at Anfield. Ancelotti should also count on the return of left-back Ferland Mendy. Benzema missed the match against Espanyol as a precaution due to an ankle concern.
The Frenchman has been out since the end of January with a thigh problem, so Ancelotti may be reluctant to risk him from the start. On the other hand, David Alaba started the first leg with a thigh problem of his own and is expected to miss this one as well.
After playing Eduardo Camavinga at left back against Espanyol, Ancelotti should bring in Antonio Rudiger or Mendy for the second leg. Mendy’s presence would allow Nacho Fernandez to play wide instead of left back.
A midfield crisis is also threatening to derail Klopp’s preparations, as Jordan Henderson (illness), Stefan Bajcetic (adductor), and Arthur were not named in their Champions League knockout squad, and Naby Keita is a slight doubt due to a knock.
Regarding Liverpool, Klopp still has the absences of Luis Diaz, Thiago Alcantara, and Calvin Ramsay to factor in. The former could return to team training this week but will not be considered.
