Virender Sehwag has compared Rinku to MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar in a startling comment about his unprecedented IPL performance.
Rinku Singh shone brightest of all in IPL 2023. Last week, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star went into God mode in the last over of the pursuit in the match against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad as he struck five sixes to assist his side’s total of 205 runs with pursuing.
The legendary MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar were compared to Rinku by Indian batting legend Virender Sehwag during a conversation with Cricbuzz just before the start of KKR’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Sehwag explained that Rinku’s presence in the KKR line-up is similar to what the two India legends were for the national team during their respective careers. Sehwag was referencing Rinku’s extraordinary achievement.
The KKR team is of the opinion that Rinku Singh is still around. There was a belief that MS Dhoni was still around when he started finishing games. In the 1990s.
A match could be won if Tendulkar was present; if not, then no. Rinku Singh and KKR are the same right now. Before, Andre Russell was in charge of them,” he stated.
The previous India player anyway feels that the accomplishment of five straight sixes by Rinku, the just any point hitter to do as such in the last over of an IPL game, is neither to be accomplished again by him nor be at any point broken.
“This has never happened in the history of cricket, and Rinku Singh will never again be able to do this. This record may have been set by accident. But Rinku will never get the chance to score six sixes and surpass it, the man remarked.
Additionally, according to Sehwag, Rinku did benefit from a little luck in that match against GT. He stated that if Alzarri Joseph had bowled the final over, hitting five sixes would have been difficult or impossible.
Instead, he was able to do so because he had the mindset of seeing Yash Dayal with the ball. Whom he had faced numerous times in the nets for the Uttar Pradesh domestic team.
“You also require some luck. Even Rinku would have known that he couldn’t hit Alzarri Joseph if he were bowling.
However, he has always faced Yash Dayal in nets. So Rinku was in the right frame of mind,” he added.
