Rohit Sharma beats Virat Kohli’s record in T20I against England

In the recent India and England cricket match Rohit Sharma registered 1,000 runs in T20I cricket as the captain of the Indian team.

He also surpassed Virat Kohli’s achievement and thus became the fastest Indian captain to achieve this magnificent feat during India v/s England 1st T20 at Ageas Bowl.

The previous captain Virat Kohli had achieved this milestone in 30 innings. Rohit Sharma made it in 29 innings to achieve this record. In comparison to other captains of the world, Rohit Sharma is also the second-fastest to achieving this feat. Babar Azam tops the charts after achieving this record in 26 innings.

Rohit Sharma made a comeback to cricket. A short and dynamic 14-ball 24 knock saw the Indian skipper going past Virat Kohli in reaching 1,000 runs in just 29 innings. Rohit has gone on to score 3,337 runs in 118 innings in the shortest format of the match.

Before the fifth test match at Edgbaston, Rohit Sharma tested positive for Covid-19 and missed the all-important test match. He soon recovered and prepared for the T20I and ODI series against England.

After winning the toss at Ageas Bowl, he opened proceedings with Ishan Kishan and scored 24 runs. His quick knock consisted of 5 boundaries. However, Rohit was later dismissed by Moeen Ali.

After India won the match, Rohit said the great performance from ball one, and all batters showed intent. Although the pitch was good, the Indian team played good shots and never got ahead of the game.

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya starred for India with the bat and the ball. He hit a 51 off 33 balls and later picked up four wickets. His all-around show also helped him secure the man of the match award.

With a crucial 1-0 lead in the T20I series, India would look to wrap it up in the next game. The win also happens to be Rohit Sharma’s 13th consecutive in this format as the captain.
