In the match between India A and Sri Lanka in 2019, Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 187 not out for India A. After that, he became more prominent in society.

Rituraj Gaikwad is one of the numerous players who emerge from India’s domestic cricket scene. The Indian Premier League (IPL) has contributed a number of highly good players to the Indian national cricket squad. These players include several well-known names, such as Hardik Pandya. Let’s start at the beginning of his career and learn about it.

    Ruturaj Gaikwad Family

The 31st of January, 1999 was the day he was born. His mother’s name is Savita Gaikwad, and his father’s name is Shri Dashrath Gaikwad. Rituraj was born into a household that places a significant emphasis on learning and academic achievement. His father works for the Department of Defense as an officer in charge of research and development, and his mother is a teacher in a local public school. Ruturaj spent his childhood alongside his cousins, and none of them showed any interest in participating in sports. His family was a mixed family.

At the age of five, Ruturaj got his first taste of cricket with a leather ball. In 2003, Ruturaj traveled to the Pune Nehru Stadium to watch New Zealand play Australia. During the match, he witnessed Brendon McCullum strike an Australian bowler with a scoop shot; this event greatly influenced Ruturaj’s interest in cricket.

The Career of Ruturaj Gaikwad in Cricket

Even when he was younger than 19, he was able to draw people in. The Cooch Behar Trophy competition that took place in 2014-2015 saw Ruturaj become the second player to score the most runs in this competition. He played in six matches and scored 826 runs, including three centuries and one half-century.

Additionally, he hit a triple century in the next competition. As a result of his consistent performances, he was chosen for the India Under-19 team to compete in the 2016 Cricket World Cup for Under-19s.

The Career of Ruturaj Gaikwad in Domestic Cricket

At the age of 19, Ruturaj made his debut in a first-class competition for the Maharashtra Ranji team in the 2016-17 season. As a result of an injury he sustained during a match, he was required to have surgery, and as a consequence, he was forced to withdraw from the Ranji season. His Ranji career was cut very short because of this.

Rituraj returned to the field of play for the first time in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which he played just one match in after taking a break for eight weeks. The following year, Rituraj was given the responsibility of opening games for his squad.

Against the Himachal Pradesh side, this young man notched his first century in List-A cricket by getting 132 runs in 110 balls. His total came against the team from Himachal Pradesh. Following that incident, Rituraj became a consistent member of the Maharashtra team.

    Ruturaj Gaikwad IPL Career

The trip that Ruturaj took playing domestic cricket in 2018-19 was very successful. As a result of his strong performance in domestic cricket, Chennai Super Kings paid the base price of Rs 20 lakhs to acquire Ruturaj for the 2019 edition of the Indian Premier League.

After spending over two months in the same dressing room as legends such as MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Shane Watson, and Faf du Plessis, Rituraj was unfazed by the fact that he was not given a single game to participate in during the entire tournament.

His side, Chennai Super Kings, has shown that they believe in him enough to keep him on the squad for the upcoming IPL 2020 tournament. Rituraj Gaikwad had an outstanding performance in the match that took place yesterday (19-09-2021), scoring 88 runs in 58 balls with a strike rate of 151.72.

He hit 9 fours and 4 sixes throughout this time period. This innings contributed to Chennai Super Kings setting a high mark for Mumbai Indians to reach.

Ruturaj Gaikwad is the youngest player to ever win the Orange Cap in the Indian Premier League.

After finishing IPL 2021 with 635 runs, Ruturaj made history by being the youngest player to ever win the Orange Cap. In 16 matches, Ruturaj has scored a total of 635 runs.

Shikhar Dhawan of the Delhi Capitals is currently in third place on the list with 587 runs, and Gaikwad’s opening partner Faf du Plessis is making his way up the rankings slowly. Another fifty was scored in the Indian Premier League by Gaikwad and du Plessis; this is their seventh fifty of the season and they’re third in a row versus KKR. CSK got off to a fast start with Gaikwad and du Plessis, who combined for 61 runs in eight overs before Sunil Narine broke the partnership.
