Basin Reserve, or simply “The Basin,” is a cricket venue in Wellington, New Zealand. It is the Firebirds’ major first-class home field and has hosted Test matches. The government recognised the Basin Reserve as a Historic Place (Category II) because it is New Zealand’s oldest test cricket field.
Other than cricket, the grounds have hosted concerts, athletic events, and social gatherings; however, it is now mostly utilised for cricket, particularly Test matches. On October 1, 2021, Cello Communications, a Wellington-based telecommunications firm, was chosen as the ground’s naming rights partner. The stadium would be known as Cello Basin Reserve for the following two years.

It was easy to mistake the green surface for a continuation of the remainder of the field. There is nothing that can help batsmen score runs; it is a bowler’s pitch.
The surface at Wellington’s Basin Reserve is well-balanced and offers several possibilities for both hitters and bowlers. Because of the new surface, fans may expect spinners to play a key part in the middle overs.
