Tebas said the Spanish league will file concerns to UEFA, the European Union, and French administrative and fiscal authorities after Mbappé agreed to a deal three-year deal with Qatari-owned PSG because the “scandalous” pact threatens the sport’s economic stability.

“We want to voice our extreme dissatisfaction, as well as our confusion, of your new accusations against Ligue 1 and one of our teams,” French league head Vincent Labrune wrote in a statement to Tebas obtained by The Associated Press on Wednesday.

“It is both unacceptable and plainly wrong that you openly and frequently adopt this position against Ligue 1 on this matter and trash our league and our teams.”

Tebas has long questioned PSG’s reliance on Qatari sponsorships, which he calls of “doubtful worth,” and has questioned how the club can comply with laws given its enormous losses.

“Your assaults on Ligue 1 and one of our clubs Paris Saint-Germain, as well as one of our stars Kylian Mbappé, are centered on your personal perception of monetary insolvency and competition unfairness, which you consistently ascribe to Ligue 1 and one of our teams,” Labrune said.

Labrune cited the European Court of Justice ruling that Real Madrid and Barcelona received unlawful state help, as well as the fact that Spanish top division teams had probably spent a third more on players than the French league in the previous decade.

Labrune emphasised how Tebas, as a member of the UEFA executive committee, contributed to the creation of new European financial sustainability guidelines. The Financial Fair Play substitute has no provisions prohibiting teams from receiving investment from financial institutions like as Qatar.
