Along with Ebden, Delhi also picked up Bavisetti and Banthia, two Indian tennis players who are both gold medalists at the last South Asian Games. Additionally, they pick up two other Indian athletes, Banthia and others for a total of 3.2 million rupees ($43 thousand), which is about $1.50/yr salary for each athlete to join the new Kolkata franchise

Hyderabad Strikers were quick to snap up a couple of singles and doubles champions at the auction. The team picked up Conny Perrin, who’s won 13 singles and 23 doubles on the ITF Women’s circuit, for 4 lakh rupees while Sriram Balaji, who is a double champion of 50 on the ITF Pro circuit, went for 6 lakh rupees.  They ended up spending 7.5 lakh but gotten three tennis champions in return.

The Mumbai Leon Army quickly picked up the cricket players they were targeting before setting a new auction record with Ramkumar Ramanathan who is currently India’s top singles player for just 6.7 lakh, and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan who won again at the Aircel Chennai Open in 2017 for just 2.6 lakh.

They successfully signed the 12 time career ITF champion Valeriya Strakhova with a price of ₹ 4.45 lakh.

After the auction, Thiruvani shared her excitement for the fourth edition of Tennis Premier League. With all of the squads having been chosen and filled with elite talent, it’s going to be a thrilling season for Indian tennis fans. The incredible work by Kunal and Mrunal keeps this tournament proven to continue growing each year.

In a one sentence summary of the latest tennis controversy, the current edition of Tennis Premier League was praised by Indian Tennis veteran Leander Paes.  Paes congratulated the other teams and wished them luck for the upcoming season.

Chennai Stallions purchased two international stars at the auction – Illya Marchenko, a Ukranian tennis player with a career high single ranking of World No.49, and Russian tennis star Anastasia Gasanova. Gasanova was bought by the Chennai team for $6,900 at the India Auction; while Marchenko was bought for ₹ 4.55 lakh (40,500 rupees).

The Chennai Stallions announced the signing of Anirudh Chandrasekar as a quality player who will improve their lineup. The Tamil Nadu-born tennis star has won his first title at the ITF $25K earlier this year, joining six singles titles and three doubles titles on the ITF Women’s circuit.

The Bengaluru Spartans team signed up only Indian players and paid the scores of young tennis player Karman Kaur Thandi, the price of ₹6.55 lakh for her. Besides Karman, Vishnu Vardhan, who won a silver and a bronze at the Asian Games in 2010, was also brought in by the Bay Area team for ₹4.55 lakh and Sidharth Rawat, who finished first at India’s All-India University championships back in 2019 was bought for 1.55 lakh.

Sania Mirza, the brand ambassador for the Bengaluru Spartans, said that it is been “very nice to see the Tennis Premier League grow over the years,” and she mentions that with the fourth season of the league, this is going to be “the most competitive yet.” The innovative format gives players a unique opportunity to test themselves under pressure, which helps them improve their game.

With the fourth season of the TPL around the corner, India is excited to how it will shape up. The teams all battle for a chance at the coveted cut of this new tournament, and hopefully one takes home the trophy,” said a stalwart of India Tennis.

The co-owned Pune Jaguars purchase Arjun Kadhe right off the bat to secure his services. Pune native Arjun Kadhe was signed and will give it his all for the Jaguars, who won their third ATP Challenger doubles title when signed him up at auction. Arjun joins Vijay Sundar Prashanth as a male player to be bought by the Pune Jaguars during this season’s bidding.

Vijay is a speed skater who won the gold medal at 2016 South Asian Games and will complement Arjun on the ice. Rutuja Bhosale was bought by Pune Jaguars for 3.65 lakh rupees.

Following the news that the Indore Leslies’ season four is about to start, Sonali Bendre Behl said “I’m very excited about the league as Season 4 is about to kick-off. And I think we’ve been growing every season from where we started and where we are going this year. The Pune Jaguars will be playing at Balewadi Stadium and it’ll be a Puneri home team.”

So, Gujarat Panthers are looking forward to all the supporters filling up the stadium and supporting them as they fight for India’s prestige. The Panthers bought Ankita Raina for ₹5.50 lakh who is currently the Indian No. 1 in Women’s Singles and Divij Sharan for ₹4.55 lakh to help make their roster with Sonali Desai who was bought for ₹2.60 lakh making them one of India’s best teams.

New and improved The Punjab Tigers made a splash at the latest TPL Amolands auctions. The team acquired Uzbek Denis Istomin and Malek Jaziri. Istomin has won two ATP tournaments, while Jaziri has been a career high-ranked player at No. 42 with Tunisia at the Olympics. The Tigers signed him for 4 lakh rupees, while adding Pascal Duckie as well. Diana Marcinkevica was purchased by the team as well in order to round off their roster for season four of the TPL.

The TPL Tennis League begins at Balewadi Stadium in Pune, India. Golfing games will take place from December 7th of 2022 until the 11th. The tournament will be telecast on the SONY TEN 2 channel and for those that don’t have time to watch them live, it will also be streamed on the Sony LIV OTT platform as well.
