On Day 1 of the first Test against the West Indies at Windsor Park, Roseau in Dominica on Wednesday, July 12, Team India’s debutant wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan displayed lots of energy and excitement.
Srikar Bharat, who was omitted for the Dominica match following a poor showing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 as well as the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 final against Australia at The Oval, was given a surprise Test debut in lieu of Kishan.
After losing the toss, India chose to bat first. Kishan was outstanding behind the wickets, taking two excellent catches to remove Raymon Reifer (2) and Joshua Da Silva (2). Aside from his glovework, he created an impression with his comments, which were recorded on the stump mic. A similar video has gone popular on social media.

Kishan, whose batting abilities were questioned prior to the Test match, made a wonderful low catch to dismiss Reifer for 2.
Team India bowler Shardul Thakur threw a longer and broader delivery to the West Indian batsman, who attempted a drive but only received a nick. The ball was dying as it approached the goalie. Kishan, on the other hand, leapt to his left and stretched his arms to make a fantastic catch.
The Indian keeper-batter, making his debut, also took the catch to eliminate Joshua Da Silva. The latter attempted to clip a ball from left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja but was caught off guard. Kishan fumbled on the initial try but recovered to make the catch on the rebound.
Meanwhile, after dismissing the West Indies for 150 runs, India declared on Day 1 in Dominica at 80/0.
