The one-day internationals basically took a back seat in 2022 because the T20 World Cup was the year’s main focus. Despite this, Team India played 24 one-day internationals this year, which is a respectable number. They won 14, lost eight, and were tied in two of those games.

South Africa lost to the Men in Blue 0-3 in a three-match away ODI series to begin the year poorly. In England, they stood out by winning a three-match series that was tightly contested by a score of 2-1. They then defeated West Indies 3-0 on their own turf.

After winning the ODI series in Zimbabwe and the Caribbean, the Indian team defeated the Proteas 2-1 at home toward the end of the year. India suffered defeats of 0-1 and 1-2 against Bangladesh and New Zealand, respectively, in their final two ODI series of 2022.

Throughout the course of the year, Indian cricket fans were treated to some outstanding bowling performances from the Men in Blue.

On that note, the following are three of the best bowling spells in the men’s ODIs for India in 2022.

#3 Hardik Pandya – 4/24 vs. England in Manchester

In the series-deciding third One-Day International (ODI) match between India and England at Old Trafford in Manchester, Hardik Pandya posted his best bowling performance in ODIs.

The premier all-rounder demonstrated once again why he is regarded as one of the Indian team’s most influential players with his incredible performance.

With India having won the throw and picked to the field, Pandya struck for India without precedent for the 10th over of the Britain innings, eliminating the very much set Jason Roy for 41, which decreased Britain to 66/3. Ben Stokes was out in 27 balls when Pandya struck again with a caught and bowled dismissal.

The talented all-rounder had figures of 2/2 with three maidens after Pandya’s first four overs. When he took out Liam Livingstone, another dangerous English batter, the 29-year-old struck again.

England was ultimately all out for 259 inside 46 overs, with India requiring 260 races to dominate the game as well as the series. India reduced the total in the second innings thanks to Rishabh Pant’s remarkable 125* score. With the bat, Pandya also made a contribution, scoring an unbeaten 71 from 55 balls.

#2 Prasidh Krishna – 4/12 versus West Indies in Ahmedabad

One more player with a four-wicket pull on the rundown is Prasidh Krishna, who had a fantasy three-match ODI series against West Indies prior in 2022. The tall pacer took nine wickets in three One-Day Internationals, four of which came in Ahmedabad’s second One-Day International.

Suryakumar Yadav hit a hounded 64 to help the Men dressed in Blue, who posted a fair score of 237 for nine subsequent to being welcome to bat.

The Indian bowlers, led by Krishna, raised their hands to perform for their nation with only 237 passengers aboard. The slender pacer bowled a stunning spell in which he repeatedly rushed the West Indies batsman with his pace and bounce.

The Karnataka pacer won Player of the Match honors and took the game’s final wicket with a stunning four-for. His game-dominating figures read, 9-3-12-4.

#1 Jasprit Bumrah – 6 for 19 vs. England at The Oval

Perhaps the best ODI bowling performance of 2022 came from India’s own Jasprit Bumrah, who bowled flawlessly in the first ODI against England in July in London.

In overcast conditions, the Indian pace attack, led by Bumrah, dominated the English batsmen after winning the toss and choosing to bowl first.

Bumrah gave India a fantasy start, giving Roy and Joe Root the boot for ducks in his most memorable north of, a twofold wicket lady. Before removing Jonny Bairstow, the right-hander’s subsequent over yielded only one run. After that, Bumrah defeated Liam Livingstone (0) for the third time in his career, dealing a fatal blow to England.

Bumrah took advantage of the circumstances to not only swing the ball in the air but also produce movement off the surface. He came back to clean up the tail and smashed the stumps of Brydon Carse (15) and David Willey (21) to score an exceptional 6/19 from 7.2 overs.

England was therefore disqualified with a meager score of 110. In response, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan contributed to India’s 18.4-over victory chase.

In addition, Bumrah’s 6/19 innings set a record as the second-best bowling performance by an Indian pacer in ODI history. The 29-year-old deservedly won Player of the Match because he was the main reason the visitors beat England.
