On Sunday, December 4, Wycombe Wanderers will host Portsmouth at Adams Park on matchday 20 in League One. Since losing 1-0 to Cheltenham Town three weeks ago, the hosts have not played. The difference came in the 26th minute thanks to a goal by Alfie May.
In contrast, Portsmouth defeated MK Dons 3-2 at home in the second round of the FA Cup. Darragh Burns gave the visitors a lead in the 19th minute, but Reeco Hackett-Fairchild quickly leveled things up for the hosts, and Colby Bishop scored twice to help Pompey advance to the next round.
With 29 points from 17 games, Portsmouth will turn their attention to league play, where they are seventh and just outside the playoffs. Wycombe, in the interim, is twelfth with 25 focuses after 19 games.

The Hampshire team enters the match in a positive frame of mind due to their strong away form. Wycombe’s poor home record, with the Chairboys losing their last four games, boosts their chances even more.
A win for the visitors will propel them into the playoffs, even though only four points separate the two teams in the standings. With goals coming from both ends, Portsmouth should win by a sliver.
Prediction: Wycombe 1-2 Portsmouth
The two teams will meet for the 17th time. With six wins, Portsmouth has a slightly better record than Wycombe, with six wins and six draws. Their most recent meeting, a goalless draw in March of this year, was one of those draws. In their last six competitive games, Wycombe has won just one game.
Portsmouth has not lost a home game in four games. Both ends have scored in six of Portsmouth’s last eight games in all competitions. In the last four head-to-head meetings, there have been fewer than three goals accomplished. Wycombe has not won any of its last four competitive home games.
